Mekhala River Cruise

Before roads were built to link Bangkok with Ayutthaya, Thailand’s former capital, Thai people preferred to build their homes along the Chao Phraya River.

The river, which originates in the north and runs through Ayutthaya and Bangkok, was once the main channel of transportation. During this period, the riverside communities flourished and the river was always busy with boats.

Offering a Chao Phraya river cruise between Bangkok and Ayutthaya, the Mekhala is a collection of two elegantly restored, beautifully crafted rice barges. The barges provide the setting for an overnight relaxing river cruise between Bangkok and the UNESCO world heritage city of Ayutthaya. The cruise gives you an opportunity to revisit the ‘old Siam’ and see a charming way of life of local people along the Chao Phraya River.

The Mekhala boat has only six cabins, promising you an unparalleled sense of intimacy and personalization as you cruise the river of the Kings. Each cabin is equipped with amenities and has an en-suite bathroom.
